- Heidi b2b The Black Madonna
It is an enormous pleasure to welcome The Black Madonna as our next thirteen week resident, presenting We Still Believe every Friday in April, May and June.
The second all-female line-up in The Black Madonna’s XOYO residency sees her accompanied by two ladies cut from the same Detroit-shaped cloth, Heidi and K-Hand.
DJs don’t come much more ubiquitous than Heidi. From her worldwide Jackathon parties, to her regular appearances on Radio 1, Heidi is revered throughout the industry by ravers and DJs alike. Growing up across the water from Detroit in Windsor, Ontario (like Richie Hawtin), Heidi later moved to London in 2000. Here she honed her craft and acquired her extensive music knowledge first at Koobla Records, before becoming part of London’s preeminent record shop, Phonica. She has been a DJ since 2004, and after starting her notorious Jackathon series in 2009 which now have strong footholds in Ibiza, London, and Watergate Berlin the rest, as they say, is history.
We're also thrilled to have the elusive K-Hand in the booth tonight. When it comes to music in a city such as Detroit, you have no option but to bring your A-game 100 per cent of the time. The high standards and expectations in Techno City means few DJs stand the test of time, Kelli Hand being one of those few. Widely respected as a veteran of the Detroit’s music scene, Kelli tours the globe unceasingly to further the city’s sound and legacy wherever she goes. Her talents behind the decks are matched equally by her abilities in the studio, with successful releases on Detroit’s Acacia Records and Nina Kraviz’ трип (trip) records. A meticulous crowd-reader yet totally uncompromising, K-Hand always leaves it to her mixing and selecting to do the talking.
