- The Black Madonna
It is an enormous pleasure to welcome The Black Madonna as our next thirteen week resident, presenting We Still Believe every Friday in April, May and June.
Week 7 of The Black Madonna’s XOYO residency sees her joined by disco don Rahaan and Glasgow’s poster boy Denis Sulta.
Rahaan is an undisputed veteran of the dance scene. And as many of the veterans do, he hails from Chicago where he’s been spinning disco and house music at house parties in the city to anyone who would listen since the 80s. Since then he has toured the world, played Chicago’s most revered clubs Buddha Lounge and The Spot throughout the 90s, and hosted his own infamous loft parties featuring heavyweight appearances from Mr. Bill and Pee Wee. The turn of the millennium saw Rahaan take to production for his own personal collection, however the quality of his own records meant was latter snapped up Fourplay Records. XOYO is excited to have one of the true legends of Chicago’s house movement behind the decks tonight.
Where to start with Denis Sulta? In the short time he’s been on the scene, he has rocketed into the big leagues of dance music and established himself as a global talent. A Glasgow lad born and bred, Hector Barbour immersed himself in the city’s rich and unique music culture, throwing his own parties and producing his own special brand of music that has had huge support from Julio Bashmore and Skream, as well as his fellow Glaswegian’s Jasper James and Jackmaster. His effortless mixing and perfect selector skills have made his rapid rise seem almost inevitable, and we hope you appreciate his appearance at XOYO tonight as much as we do.
